NORTHBROOK, Ill.—February 15, 2021—In this edition of Straight Talk! with Jeff Cross, Lindsay Roberts, group director at Informa Exhibitions, discusses plans to safely host ������ý Show North America 2021 as an in-person event in Las Vegas. The show will take place November 15-18, 2021 in the newly completed West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

������ý Show North America 2020 took place as a successful virtual event due to COVID-19 concerns. “What surprised me the most was how adaptive the industry and the audience was,” Roberts said. “They were super warm and open and willing to try new things, which wasn’t the case for all of the audiences we serve in some of our other shows.” Despite the virtual show’s success, Roberts hopes it’s not necessary again and is planning a live, in-person event for this year’s show.

������ý Show North America 2021 will feature all the classic elements the industry has come to know and anticipate from the Association’s flagship event, but Roberts thinks of this as an opportunity to “hone in and improve on everything we do.” For example, she and her team are looking for fresh speakers, examining how well the conference program serves various industry segments, considering how to energize networking events, and streamlining logistics and operations for a better attendee experience.

Roberts anticipates this will be a highly-attended show because after more than a year of restricted in-person events, there’s a lot of pent-up demand. “For the virtual event alone, we had 12,000 unique users on the platform, so people need to connect. The idea of being able to see each other in person, touch products—I think people are really ready as long as they feel safe.” And safety is a top priority for the ������ý Show. Roberts notes that they will be visiting the venue this week and have a safety plan in place for the event, but they are prepared for that plan to evolve as the event approaches and pandemic conditions evolve. She also points out that they will have the opportunity to learn from other events happening earlier in the year to implement the most effective safety protocols. “We’ll make sure whatever we do is safe for our audience—otherwise we won’t do it.”
