Oriental rugs making comeback in modern design
NEW YORK 鈥 Oriental rugs are making a comeback in modern home design among younger adults, according to the Washington Post.
鈥淭he old-world Oriental rug鈥 is making a comeback on Pinterest boards and in the homes of design lovers and millennials, who are decorating with it in fresh ways,鈥 Jura Koncius writes in the article. 鈥淲hile the design community scours auctions and old-line rug dealers for fine centuries-old carpets, younger shoppers on a budget are hauling rolled-up Heriz rugs out of their baby-boomer parents鈥 attics or snapping up Oushaks on Craigslist.鈥
Interior designers report an increase in clients requesting Oriental rug additions to design plans, and specialty and antique rug shop owners are seeing an increase in Oriental rug sales as well.
As the sales of fine Oriental rugs begins to surge, cleaners who have been considering diversifying with rug care services, should act early by receiving proper training and acquiring equipment needed.
